of Artvin Forests and Their Control Methods.

Abstract
This study was
carried out between 2000-2017. It is discussed types of insect pests and
controlmethods in forests of Artvin Forest Regional Directorate. A total of 4
insect species have beendetermined to be main pests, which are The great spruce
bark beetle (Dendroctonus micans Kugelann), The European spruce bark
beetle (Ips typographus L.), Six-spined engraver beetle (Ipssexdentatus
Boerner), Fir engraver beetle (Pityokteines curvidens Germ.)
(Coleoptera: Curculionidae:Scolytinae). This species caused damage in Oriental
spruce (Picea orientalis L.), Scots pine (Pinussylvestris L.)
and Caucasian fir (Abies nordmanniana Steven). Biological, biotechnical,
silviculturaland mechanical control methods are used in the control of these
species by Artvin Forest RegionalDirectorate.
