Abstract
Dendroctonus micans (Kug.)
(Coleoptera: Curculionidae) which has been detected first in a Caucasian spruce
in 1966 (Acatay 1968) has distributed continuously since then and today it can
be found in almost all parts of East Black Sea Region where Caucasian spruce is
very common (Alkan-Akıncı et al. 2009, 2010). Causing heavy losses in stands
where they are distributed, pests are treated with mechanical pest control
between 1966 and 1972 and chemical pest control between 1972-1985 (Özder 1984;
Eroğlu 1995; Alkan 2000; Eroğlu et al. 2005; AlkanAkıncı et al. 2009) .Since
1985 biological control has been put into practice (Aksu 2011). More than 3.5
million predatory have been reproduced in the laboratories of Artvin Regional
Directorate of Forestry within the scope of biological control studies. (Aksu
2011)
